A. Kalmykov highly estimated the artists’ performance at the circus festival in Izhevsk and said that the artists had lately been awarded with a special prize of the jury at Monte Carlo, gold in Budapest and bronze in the Spanish town of Albaset.

According to specialists’ estimates, today it is equalled to the international festivals and our artist perform rather successfully, and one of the best attractions of the company is presented here.

Answering the journalists’ question about the coming reforms in the Russian circus, A. Kalmykov said:

“The Russian circus needs reforming, primarily in the questions of artists support, salary rise, improvement of social conditions and artists’ insurance. It is impossible to solve all the questions straightaway but there is a big group willing to change everything for the better, create new circus attractions and performances which could be highly appreciated in the world circus arts.

Today we resume contacts with different circuses, in particular with Nikulins circus and many other circuses as well. Artists from many countries will work in our circuses, and the field where circus attractions will be represented is going to be diverse and broad, so that there are no borders or hindrances.  The main thing is that a new payment system has been introduced which is expected to be worthy and adequate. And these are the first steps that we must take.”
